Ceremony Styling Tips

Your ceremony is without a doubt the most important part of your wedding day. Not only are you committing to a life together with your partner, but you are publicly declaring your love and exchanging your wedding vows with your nearest and dearest there to witness the occasion.
It’s also one of the most photographed parts of the wedding day and yet when it comes time to think about wedding styling, couples often skip straight to the reception décor. Of course you’re excited to see your venue transformed for the celebrations to follow, but your ceremony styling will set the scene and give guests a hint of what’s to come.
Here are our top 5 ceremony styling items to consider:
Welcome Signage
Whether you opt for a simple welcome message, a romantic quote or a combination of both, the Welcome Sign is a lovely first touch point for guests and doubles as a way to confirm to guests that they’re in the right place! Bonus – this can easily be transported to the reception later on.
Chair Décor
Whether you have individual chairs or church pews, dressing them with a beautiful drape or bow adds so much to the aesthetics of the space. Sometimes less is more and when it comes to the ceremony, couples often opt for just decorating the aisle chairs.
Arch or backdrop
Now, your venue will really dictate what is and isn’t going to work in this department – but the main point of this decoration is to beautifully frame you and your partner throughout the ceremony. One thing I love about a focal item like this is that it can be moved after the ceremony and positioned in a focal area at the reception. Think front entrance, behind the top table or even to frame the cake.
Aisle Décor
Walking down the aisle is certainly a big moment for both of you – especially when you realise that when you walk back down it , it will be as a married couple! So it goes without saying that aisle décor is a beautiful way to highlight it’s importance. From aisle carpets or petals through the centre to lanterns/candles and floral arrangements on either side, the options are endless for aisle decorations.
Registrar table
Because of it’s practical purpose of signing documentation, this humble table is often forgotten about. Adding a floral arrangement and some candles is perfect, and again you can always reuse the décor later on at the reception venue. But why stop there?
There are so many other ways to add personality and style to your ceremony. From floral arrangements to customised order of service booklets – the main thing to remember is to use the same fonts and colours so that you have a cohesive look from ceremony to reception, and think about versatile items which can be repurposed later on.
